Gaslandet The Performance "Gaslandet" was created during my 3 week stay at Lilith Performance Studio in Malmö in March 2007. The viewers were invited in groups of about 5 into a bombastic installation with strange doll-like people in skinsuits, palm trees, shadowplay, soundcontrolled light, smoke and projected text. Completely silent, I guided each group for a 10 minute walk through this emotional landscape. Using mostly hand signs and body postures, I attempted to focus their attention on certain views and details. From the postition of being a character in my own fictional creation, it seemed that I could give it a sense of autonomy (a "life" of its own) by partly distancing myself from it. |
